This is a big, tall, strong handsome lad who will need an experienced home to help him with leash walking and recall. Ideally, he will be the only dog in the home.
- People: friendly inside and outside of the home / lived with kids / doesn’t jump up
- Other dogs: on lead – some leash frustration around some, but not all, dogs / off lead – unknown (only let off in a secure field)
- Home alone: can be left for long periods; is not destructive
- House trained
- Sleeps in the kitchen – chews beds so has blankets or the floor
- Cats: will chase (& squirrels)
- Likes: hard balls / all toys but will destroy then
- Barking: will bark when people walk past the home / demand barks for treats and attention
- Nail Clipping – happy to have his nails trimmed by current owner
- Special feature: good at having paws cleaned when he comes home from a muddy walk
- Has never shown signs of resource guarding food or toys
- Has never exhibited any of the following behaviours: growled / shown teeth / snapped / bitten anyone
- He has a pronounced Occiput
- The dog’s occiput is a bony protuberance on the dog’s head and its primary role is to protect the dog’s bones of the skull and brain, by absorbing shock and distributing force
- The vet has checked it, including an X-ray; it’s just his Occiput – no concerns
- Makes for interesting reading – some good old wives tales included: https://dogdiscoveries.com/curiosity/bump-on-top-of-a-dogs-head
He is currently in kennels in our care. The kennel owner commented “lovely dog, no bother, likes a run round in the field and then happy to go back into kennel”
