Rennie – Meet & Greet Booked

Rennie is a stunning 2-year-old entire male Dobermann who is searching for a new start through absolutely no fault of his own. Due to a marriage breakdown and the demands of caring for four young children, his owner feels she can no longer meet his needs. This is a heartbreaking but responsible decision made with Rennie’s best interests at heart.

Personality & Temperament
Rennie is a gentle, affectionate, and family-loving boy. He currently lives with children aged 10 months to 8 years, and his owner has zero concerns about his behaviour around them; he’s trustworthy and respectful if not a little crazy at times but he is only a baby still. He happily sleeps downstairs on the sofa and never ventures upstairs. He’s polite with food, doesn’t counter-surf, takes treats gently, and will patiently wait for the command before eating. When the children are eating, he’ll watch but never steal.
Rennie enjoys visitors and greets them enthusiastically, but he’s not over the top. He can be left alone for a few hours and currently watches at the window without issue and will let you know when he needs to go out by whimpering at the door.

Training & Exercise Needs
Rennie’s biggest challenge is his lead walking. Due to his current situation, his exercise needs haven’t been consistently met, and now he’s so excited to go out that he becomes chaotic on the lead. He has basic commands sit, wait, etc and excellent manners, but lead work and structured exercise will be essential.
He hasn’t been off-lead for over a year, so recall and controlled freedom will need rebuilding slowly. Rennie is a project, but a rewarding one for the right adopter.

Behaviour & Habits
Loves his toys but will try to turn “give it back” into a fun game
Doesn’t use a crate
Has never lived with other pets, but could potentially live with another dog with careful introductions
No cats or small furries, please
A classic Dobermann; doesn’t like going out in the rain!

Ideal Home
Rennie would thrive with:
Someone who can provide consistent exercise and training
A home willing to work on his lead manners and recall
A calm, confident adopter familiar with large breeds (or willing to learn)
Children are fine — he’s brilliant with them
Another friendly dog could be possible
A pet-free household otherwise

Health
Rennie is in good overall health and is regularly bathed. No known issues reported.

If you think you could offer Rennie the forever home he deserves, please submit an Adoption Application so that we can get you Homechecked.
