Ghost is an 11-month-old Dobermann who has come into our care through no fault of his own. As always, we believe in full transparency, his Dog Assessment will be shared with all prospective adopters so you have the full picture before offering him a home.
Ghost is a big, striking boy at 38kg and still very much an adolescent. With that comes all the enthusiasm, energy, and mischief you’d expect from a young Dobermann and plenty of potential too.
Ghost is not suitable for homes with cats or young children. He hasn’t lived with children before and, due to his size and boisterous nature, could easily knock little ones over. We will only consider homes with older teenagers.
He is looking for an experienced, committed owner who can provide clear leadership, structure, and consistency. Ghost will thrive in a home that is willing to invest time into weekly training and ongoing development, he is very much a “project dog” but one with huge rewards.
At Lincs, we always give you the real deal – Ghost definitely likes the sound of his own voice! He has learned that barking can get him what he wants, so he will demand bark for attention, treats, and interaction. This will need consistent, calm training to reshape.
He already knows several commands including sit, down, paw, middle, and spin, showing he is an intelligent boy with a real capacity to learn. With the right guidance, he will flourish into a well-balanced adult.
Ghost can become very excited when visitors arrive – barking, jumping, and rushing around. He will need to be managed with a house lead and taught more appropriate greetings over time.
Ghost absolutely LOVES a flirt pole – it’s his favourite thing! He also enjoys playing with a ball and is highly motivated by treats.
He walks nicely on the left-hand side, enjoys off-lead time, and has good recall. He is confident around traffic, trains, and even fireworks have not bothered him.
Ghost has not been left alone much and currently struggles with this. He was previously crate trained, but this has lapsed. His new home will need to carefully and positively reintroduce crate training to give him a safe space and help him learn to settle when left for short periods.
While Ghost doesn’t currently live with other dogs, he has had exposure through extended family with Labradors and a Newfoundland. Due to his chaotic nature, being overly enthusiastic about everything in life & the time he is going to take in terms of training, we are open to discussing homes with or without resident dogs.
Ghost is full vaccinated but does have a retained testicle, which will need to be removed at the appropriate age under veterinary guidance (the rescue will contribute to the cost)
The Bottom Line – Ghost is big, bouncy, boisterous and yes, currently quite noisy! But beneath all of that is a very affectionate, loving boy who just needs guidance, boundaries, and the right environment to thrive.
For the right home willing to put in the time and effort, Ghost has all the makings of an incredible companion. If you think you can offer him the perfect home, please submit an Adoption Application.
