Foster a dobie

Foster carers quote: “often challenging, always rewarding”.

Myths and Facts about being a foster “Pawrent” to a Dobermann in our care:

Have you ever considered becoming a foster to one of the many Dobermanns we rescue, but were unsure of the commitment or qualifications?

It is probably easier than you think to make a HUGE difference!

Myth No 1: Fostering is expensive. I don’t have the extra money to support a dog.

Fact: Fostering costs NOTHING except for the space in your home and your time! Lincs always supports our foster “Pawrents” and covers EVERYTHING! We will cover:

•             Food
•             Enrichment toys
•             Crate / bedding / leash and harness, if needed
•             Vet costs
•             Training support if needed

Whether you’re curious about fostering a Dobermann, want to get to know the breed better, or are an experienced Dobermann owner, the dogs NEED YOU

The first step is to fill out an application and be homechecked, we will then contact you and get to know you so that we can be sure that the foster we match you with is the right fit for you.

As a reminder, you will ALWAYS have all costs paid by Lincs—you need only to have the love in your heart, a space in your home and the time to provide a safe haven to our dogs as we work to find them permanent homes. We look forward to hearing from YOU!

Myth no 2:  I can’t foster a dog, I have another dog, cat, child in the house.

Fact:  Since every dog is unique, there are instances where our dogs can actually be placed in a situation with other dogs, cats, or kids, for example. If you have a unique situation, we’ll place you on our foster list and only match you with a dog who we believe would be successful in that situation, we will never set a dog up to fail.

Myth no 3:  I can’t foster a Dobermann, although I love the breed and want one someday, I have no experience with Dobermanns.

Fact: Fostering an older Dobermann can be the perfect entry into learning about the breed! In fact, starting with a laid-back senior can give you the breed experience with lower stress and more room for learning. Many of our seniors have settled into their “Velcro” dog stage, wanting little more than companionship and a bit of interaction.  We may also have dogs who need veterinary care to prepare them for rehoming – these dogs typically need to receive the care in ahome environment.
