Dexter is a 7-year-old male Dobermann who came into rescue through truly heartbreaking circumstances. Following the sudden loss of one of his owners, his remaining family faced the overwhelming reality of caring for two young children while managing work, finances, and Dexter’s ongoing needs. With great love and sadness, they made the selfless decision to seek help for Dexter so he could have the stability and care he deserves. Lincs is fully committed to supporting Dexter and finding him a safe, loving home for the next chapter of his life.
When Dexter arrived with us, it became apparent that there were concerns with his mobility. After specialist consultations, Dexter was diagnosed with Wobblers Syndrome. Lincs will cover the costs of pre-existing conditions and is happy to fully discuss what this diagnosis means in real terms with shortlisted adopters. We also have access to a dedicated medical team, and all relevant guidance and information will be shared with his future family.
Dexter is neutered, very friendly, and an absolute pleasure to have around. He settles well in the home, sleeps happily on his bed with his blanket, can be left for a couple of hours where he’ll chill and take a snooze. Due to his condition, Dexter will not be able to jump onto sofas or climb in and out of cars, and his environment will need to support calm, steady movement.
Out on walks, Dexter may pull slightly at first but soon settles and walks nicely. He is currently enjoying two short, gentle lead walks per day while his medication and mobility needs are being carefully managed & monitored.
Although Dexter has previously lived with other dogs, it is felt that he would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where he can move calmly and avoid rough play. Unfortunately, he cannot live with cats. Dexter is very gentle around children and would thrive in a kind, understanding family environment.
Dexter is a loving, loyal boy who has so much affection to give. He is looking for a home that will offer patience, understanding, and plenty of love in return.
