Ghost is a stunning 3 year old albino Dobermann who has sadly found himself looking for a new home through no fault of his own due to a change in his owner’s housing circumstances.
Ghost is a calm, polite and affectionate boy who enjoys greeting visitors and has a lovely nature around people. Although he has only had limited exposure to children and has never lived with them, he has always behaved appropriately during the interactions he has had. We would therefore suggest homes with older teens would be most appropriate.
He has good manners within the home, waits nicely for his food and showed no signs of resource guarding during assessment. Ghost is currently fed in his crate due to the number of dogs within the household and is happy for his caregivers to approach him whilst eating. Whilst he has not had any formal training, he has developed a good level of basic obedience and is a well-mannered companion.
Ghost travels well in a van. He can also be left for a few hours if needed, although this has historically been alongside other dogs in the home so it may take time to build up to this in his new home.
Currently, Ghost lives with four other dogs, two cats and even a parrot. He has also met other known dogs away from the home successfully, although he can sometimes be wary around unfamiliar dogs initially. Due to some occasional grumbles within the home environment, we feel Ghost would ultimately be happiest and most relaxed as the only dog in his new home where he can enjoy one-to-one attention and build confidence at his own pace.
Ghost shares a very close bond with his current owner, so prospective adopters should understand that he may need time, patience and reassurance while adjusting and building trust with a new family.
Ghost is castrated, however his vaccinations are currently out of date and will need restarting by his adopters. He also has dietary requirements and must remain on a grain and chicken free diet due to allergies.
As an albino Dobermann, Ghost has additional care needs that adopters must be prepared to manage responsibly. Due to reduced pigmentation, he is highly sensitive to sunlight and at increased risk of sunburn, skin damage and related health complications if appropriate precautions are not taken. His new family will need to provide careful protection from sun exposure, including limiting time in direct sunlight, ensuring access to adequate shade, using veterinarian-approved sun protection where appropriate and maintaining regular veterinary care to monitor his skin and eye health.
Ghost is a lovely, sensitive boy looking for a calm and understanding home where he can continue to thrive and form a strong bond with people committed to giving him the security and care he deserves.
