Bear

Bear is a 5-month-old brown Dobermann who has come into Lincs through no fault of his own. He’s a gorgeous, affectionate boy with all the potential in the world but he is every inch the typical puppy!
Bear is into absolutely everything he shouldn’t be. He chews, he jumps, he pulls on the lead, and to him, everything is one big exciting game. His recall is currently non-existent and he is hard work on the lead, likely due to limited time spent out and about in his previous home. He will need a committed and patient owner who is ready to invest time and consistency into his ongoing training especially lead work and general manners.
The good news? Bear is bright and eager. He already knows how to sit, give a paw, and lie down on command. He will sit and wait nicely for his food, and you can take items off him without any issue. He is fully house trained and will sit by the back door when he needs to toilet, a very clever boy.
Bear is currently in foster with a female Dobermann and has been a happy and content house guest. He could live with another spayed female dog. He loves meeting other dogs, although he can be a little shy when first meeting new people. We feel he may be slightly behind with his socialisation, but with positive exposure and guidance, we are confident he will come along beautifully.
Bear had a negative experience with a crate in his previous home, so it’s essential that his crate training continues positively and at his pace. He was initially unsettled at night but is already adjusting well in foster and now sleeps through in his crate. He can be left for short periods appropriate to his age, but as a young puppy, he cannot be left for long hours.
He has lived with teenagers but not young children. Due to his excitable and chaotic puppy nature, we feel he would be best suited to a home with children aged 13+. He has not lived with cats and we are unable to cat test him.
Bear will make a superb companion, but he is very much a project, a young Dobermann who will need your time, patience, love and dedication to help him grow into the incredible dog we know he can be.
If you’re ready for puppy chaos, training sessions, muddy walks and a lifetime of loyalty could Bear be your boy?
