Luna is a stunning 9-month-old Blue Dobermann with all the enthusiasm, intelligence, and sensitivity the breed is known for. She came into our care after a complex family situation meant it was no longer suitable for her to remain in the home, and she was removed on welfare grounds.
Luna is an entire bitch and will be rehomed with a neutering contract, to be completed when she is age appropriate.
Before coming to us, Luna lived with children aged 11 and 14. She is still a very bouncy, mouthy puppy, so she would need to live with dog-savvy children only who understand appropriate interactions and puppy behaviour.
Since arriving, Luna has been placed in an emergency foster home with our friends at K9 Vault, where she has begun her training journey. Prior to this, she had received no formal training, so Luna is very much a work in progress. She is responding extremely well to structure, engagement work, markers, and clear boundaries, and is showing just how capable she is when given consistency.
Luna is crated overnight in foster, and this must continue in her new home. Crate training has been essential in helping her learn to settle, cope with alone time, and reduce anxiety and destructive behaviours. Without this structure, Luna is likely to become distressed when left. In her previous home she was reported to be destructive, but she has improved immensely in foster with consistent crate use, something potential adopters must be committed to continuing.
Luna could live with another dog. She has previously lived with a canine companion and has been around many other dogs in foster, enjoying nice but boisterous play. Sensible introductions and ongoing management would be key.
Like many young Dobermanns, Luna will need supervision around mealtimes and kitchen spaces, as she is currently a keen counter surfer. She travels well in the car and enjoys getting out and about.
Luna is currently a little underweight, but she is otherwise healthy, happy, and full of love. She will thrive in a home that can offer time, consistency, patience, and commitment to ongoing training someone who understands the breed and is willing to put the work in to help her reach her potential.
In return, Luna offers loyalty, affection, and the chance to shape a truly wonderful Dobermann into the dog she is meant to be
