Baby Blue – Residential Training

Meet Baby Blue đź’™
Baby Blue is a 9-month-old female black and tan Dobermann who is coming into Lincs due to her owner’s ill health. Sadly, because of these health challenges, Blue hasn’t been able to receive the exercise, training, and structure that a young Dobermann needs to thrive.
As a result, Blue is currently very strong on the lead and can be hard work to walk. She will need an adopter with time, patience, and commitment to training to help her learn good lead manners. Blue has never been off lead away from the home, so her future owner will need to make use of secure fields and work gradually on recall training.
Because her owner has been unwell and home most of the time, Blue has not been left alone for extended periods. Building up time left alone will be an important part of her transition into a new home.
Blue is a very excitable young girl and can jump up when visitors arrive. For this reason, only homes with older, dog-savvy teenagers will be considered.
She has not lived with cats. We are told that when she sees cats in the garden she is inquisitive but does not chase; however, this would need careful management in a new home.
At present, Blue sleeps on her owner’s bed. Although a crate is available, she rarely uses it, so crate training and boundaries will need to be introduced gently and consistently.
Due to her age, Blue is not yet neutered and will be rehomed with a neutering contract to be completed when appropriate.
Sadly, Blue has developed epilepsy, which is now being managed with a daily dose of Epiphen. This medication must continue for life. As this is a pre-existing condition, the cost of her epilepsy medication is covered by the rescue. While her seizures are currently well controlled, it is important to note that medication may need adjusting in the future.
Blue currently lives with a 3-year-old male Dobermann and they get along well, although Blue would happily play all day. Due to her epilepsy and the potential risks if she were to have a seizure around another dog, we are looking for a dog-free home where Blue can be the sole focus.
Everything in life is a game to Blue she is friendly, happy, and full of youthful enthusiasm. She now needs a settled, understanding home that can guide her with kindness and consistency, helping her grow into a well-rounded young lady.
If you are interested in Baby Blue, please submit an Adoption Application in the first instance so we can begin our usual checks.
