Meet Bella 🖤
Bella is a stunning 3-year-old female Dobermann who finds herself coming into rescue through no fault of her own. Her family are moving abroad and heartbreakingly cannot take her with them. Bella has been with them since she was a puppy, and this is the only home she has ever known.
Bella is entire, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She has not been spayed due to a previous unusually heavy season accompanied by frequent urination; on veterinary advice, spaying was considered likely to worsen this, so she has remained entire.
She is used to having two walks a day, always on lead. Bella currently does not free-run due to poor recall, however she is very food motivated, and with time, consistency, and training we believe this could improve. She is walked on a headcollar and lead and, while she can pull initially, she responds well to correction and will walk nicely at her handler’s side for most of the walk.
Due to being a bit of a scavenger — and following an incident where she ate a dead rat and required veterinary treatment — Bella is now walked wearing a muzzle for her safety.
Bella can be left at home for a few hours without issue. She may be worried by loud noises, busy environments, motorbikes, and large vehicles, so quieter walking areas suit her best.
She cannot live with cats and has a high prey drive, so no small furries. Bella has not lived with other dogs and appears to have had limited socialisation. For this reason, we feel she would be best suited as the only dog in the home, though she may be able to build a small circle of canine friends with careful, positive introductions.
In the home, Bella can greet visitors enthusiastically and may bark initially. Away from the home, she is generally able to greet people calmly.
We were informed that Bella had shown some reactivity towards dogs and occasionally people in the past. However, during her Dog Assessment, we saw no evidence of this. We believe that with a calm, confident handler, positive reinforcement, and allowing Bella to make good choices, she will continue to relax and gain confidence.
Bella would thrive in a home with adopters who understand the Dobermann breed and can offer structure, patience, and reassurance as she navigates this big change in her life. In return, she will reward you with loyalty, affection, and companionship.
If you are interested in Bella, please submit an Adoption Application in the first instance so we can begin our usual checks.
