Vinnie is believed to be around 8 months old and came into our care via the pound after being dumped at a veterinary practice.
On arrival, Vinnie was severely malnourished and had clearly endured a difficult start to life. He has an injury to one of his ears, but thankfully this does not appear to cause him any discomfort.
Despite everything he has been through, Vinnie is an incredibly loving boy. He thrives on being close to his caregivers and family, often following you around with curiosity and affection.
Vinnie is currently learning how to live in a home environment, which we believe is all very new to him. That said, he has been clean in the home and is doing brilliantly settling overnight in his crate.
Vinnie needs a family with time, patience, and commitment. While we say this often, this boy truly deserves it. He has had no formal training and very little exposure to the outside world, so he will need a confident and calm handler who can help him understand that the world is a safe and positive place.
He is currently strong on the lead, but as with many young dogs, this is very much a work in progress. Vinnie is food motivated, which will work strongly in his favour when it comes to training and building engagement.
Vinnie is currently in a foster home while we focus on improving his condition and helping him feel safe and secure. Living with children, cats and other dogs will form part of his assessment going forward. Our hope is that he will be ready for rehoming in a couple of months once his body condition has improved.
