Helga (1yr 8mths)

  • People:
    • good with adults and children in the home /  lives with an 11yr old  / can be nervous of strangers inside and outside of the home
    • Has never exhibited any of the following behaviours:  growled / shown teeth / snapped / bitten anyone
  • Other dogs:
    • lives with 15yr old Staffie (male / neutered) and 2yr old American Bulldog X Mastiff (male/entire) / she is submissive with the older Staffie / there have been some ‘scuffles’ between Helga and the Mastiff if the owner is showing attention to the Mastiff and not her
    • Off lead – never been off lead except once – played nicely in a secure field with other dogs Dobie, Dally, small mixed breed and Yorkie – this was a one-off event when they arrived at the field early and those already in there invited them in
    • On lead – may bark if another dog barks at her but normally ok
  • Boundaries in the home:  lacking – gets ‘full on zoomies’ all over the house and does knock things over (e.g. the kitchen bin)
  • Sleeps:  on a dog bed either in the bedroom or downstairs
  • Home alone: has been left for up to 4hrs – always with the other dogs, no issues between the dogs when left home alone
  • Not crate trained – they’ve never tried to crate train her
  • House training: will stand and whine at the door but current owner doesn’t always hear her, although she isn’t sure if she does always stand at door and whine because she doesn’t hear it, and so the dog toilets close to the door to the garden
  • Travel:  good in the car – currently travels on the back seat with a harness and restraint
  • No destructive tendencies reported
  • Loves: rope toys and hard balls, will walk around with one in her mouth
  • Dislikes:  nervous of bright lights in the dark, for example being walked at night and seeing vehicle lights…cowers and puts brakes on (refuses to walk)
  • Cats:  untested
  • Livestock:  untested
  • Walked in a halti and harness

A direct rehome is planned for this dog. This means that the dog will not have to go into foster care or kennels; it’ll go from its current home directly to the adopter’s home, which means the dog doesn’t have to go through more change than is necessary.  If you are interested in adopting any of the dogs you see, then please ensure you have submitted an adoption application via our website so that we are able to contact you as rehoming requests for dogs are submitted to us.
